Black Bean Burger

Make your own black bean burger in only 20-30 minutes!

Ingredients +/- 8 burgers:

  • 3 tbsp flaxseeds
  • 1 can black beans (rinsed & drained)
  • 1 big grated carrot
  • a handful chopped fresh parsley or coriander
  • 2 big garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1 big chopped onion
  • a handful suflower seeds (optional)
  • 100g oat flour (optional glutenfree)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp soya sauce (optional glutenfree)
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp pink himalayan salt
  • black pepper to taste

Serve this burger with:

  • buns or wraps (optional glutenfree)
  • onion, salad, tomatoes
  • cooked veggies
  • your favorite vegan sauce
  • sweet potato wedges
  • crispy kale


  1. preheat the oven 180°c/350°F and get a baking sheet ready
  2. mix the flaxseeds with 75 ml warm water in a small bowl and leave it for +/- 10 minutes, until it thickens
  3. in a large bowl , mash the black beans with a fork, put in the rest of the ingredients, the flaxseed mix and give it a good mix
  4. turn the mix into burgers with slighty wet hands, press the mixture tight together so you can form the burgers and put the burgers on a baking sheet
  5. bake the burgers for +/- 15 minutes, turn them over and bake the other side for +/- 15 minutes, until lightly golden (you can also fry the burgers in a frying pan)
